Elementary Students Win WQED Writing Contest

Several Pine-Richland elementary GATE students were named winners and finalists in WQED’s PBS Kids 2024 Writers Contest. Students in grades K-3 were invited to submit original stories and illustrations encouraging literacy, reading and career exploration aligned with the theme of writing about their future.

Finalists included kindergarten students Holden K. and Skylar S., second-graders Alya B., Adelina G., Luke I. and Clive S., and third-graders Stokely A., Connor B., Nolan G., Alex W. and Christian W.

Winning students included second-graders Meia G., Zachary M. and Nicolas R. and third-grader Isla L.

The winning students have been invited to submit videos of themselves reading their stories, which will be posted on WQED.org.
