Principal's Message—September 13, 2024

dot_book_cover_dropshadow.jpgDear Wexford Elementary Families,

International Dot Day is September 15th. Be sure to share your mark with the world!

International Dot Day is about creativity and inspiration. Because we are not in school on the actual date of International Dot Day, September 15, 2024, we chose Friday, September 13th to wear our dots. The students are learning about famous artists with Mrs. Jankowski while we are sharing our dot-inspired clothing on Friday, September 13th at Wexford Elementary School. You are encouraged to talk to your child about their artistic ideas and work aligned to the National Core Art Standards and our Pine-Richland School District Learning Goals. Celebrating Dot Day is an example of relating artistic ideas with personal meaning to make art.

Dot Day celebrations inspire everyone to express their creativity in any way he or she would like; it starts with making just one dot. The book, The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds features a child who is encouraged to be brave and begin her artwork with a dot. We are reminded to see where our work takes us when we learn and celebrate together!

Educationally Yours,

Kelly Gustafson
